Professor Molly Courtenay, PhD, MSc, BSc, Cert Ed, RNT, RN


Molly Courtenay is a Professor of Clinical Practice: Prescribing and Medicines Management. She is a qualified nurse with a background in Intensive Care. Molly moved to Surrey from the University of Reading where she worked as a reader and later a professor. Molly’s main research interests are in the area of non medical prescribing.

Molly currently works with several national groups and organisations on issues surrounding prescribing and medicines management. She undertook a secondment with the Royal College of Nursing between 2003-2008, where she worked as the Joint Prescribing and Medicines Management Adviser. She now works as the national Prescribing Advisor with the Association for Nurse Prescribing.

Molly has published widely in peer reviewed journals. She is the author/editor of eight books in the field of prescribing and medicines management.
