March CKS updates include antenatal care

Antenatal care and the management of common ailments in uncomplicated pregnancies are among the new topics published on the NHS Clinical Knowledge Summaries website in March. Other new and updated topics are: boils, carbuncles, and staphylococcal carriage; knee pain - assessment; melanoma and pigmented lesions; otitis media with effusion; paronychia - acute; and whitlow (staphylococcal and herpetic).

CKS: new topics published

Several new topics were added to the NHS Clinical Knowledge Summaries website in February: male and female androgenetic alopecia; benign paroxysmal positional vertigo; breastfeeding problems; delirium; pulmonary embolism; and vestibular neuronitis. The topics on hypothyroidism and pruritus vulvae have been updated as well.

December updates from CKS

New and updated topics added to the Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) website in October and November include: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; insulin therapy - type 2 diabetes; pityriasis versicolor; pre-patellar bursitis; sickle cell disease; cervical screening; greater trochanteric pain syndrome (trochanteric bursitis); olecranon bursitis; and temporomandibular joint disorders.

Nurses to comment on Clinical Knowledge Summaries

Nurses are being asked to comment and provide feedback on draft NHS Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS). The team that develops CKS says it greatly values the input provided by nurses, as it ensures the topics are accurate and practical for use in the community (including general practice and walk-in centres).
